Watch your thoughts….

Watch your thoughts: as they become words

watch your words: as they become actions

watch your actions:as they become habits

watch your habits: as they become character

watch your character: for it becomes destiny

(Frank Outlaw)

When i read the above , i thought it to be surmount.

We always ask our children ” what do you want to be ?” or ” what do you want to be when you grow up ?” and leave it to that . What we must realize is that character matters and we need to work on the child’s thought process . So that he / she develops

Optimism- to handle each situation with positivism

Gratitude: To be thankful to all and being  humble

Social Intelligence: to be able to interact at power with all around

Curiosity:to always be a learner

Self Control:to think and analyse and assess, do the right thing

Enthusiasm: to be full of love and joy

Perseverance: consistency and dedication

These vital traits that you as adults and parents can re enforce in children on a daily basis.  For instance reassuring children for the correct behavior , discussing ones own positive behavior, discussing children’s daily events, setbacks and struggles in life all can develop character strengths.

One must remember that behavior or character can all be learnt , practiced and cultivated.

So ask your children “how do you want to be ?” rather than “what do you want to be?”

Because character matters
