 A picture is worth a 100 words.

As a teacher, we are trying to pull out words from students to form expression through grammatically correct, creatively inclined and syntax essays. Art and drawing act as catalysts in succeeding at the former.

Story telling through art- Aaliya 15 year -Grade 9- Vidya Niketan School

While beginning to write, the mind is met with a state of either utter chaos, or more commonly a dark silence. Putting pen to paper in the idea of words always seems difficult. This is attributed to the gap created between what we are thinking and what is being conveyed. Which is easily bridged by the blueprint of a sketch, and the emotion of color in a drawing.

Art and drawing especially for children removes any sort of hindrances in expression. It clears the mind, bringing focus, interest and later can be honed for expression through writing. This exposes the child to his own abilities in terms of creativity, spectrum and understanding his own thoughts visually.

Dipping your fingers in paint or smudging the crayon shaving onto a plain white sheet of paper provides the extensive freedom that everyone should experience while trying to streamline or diversify their thoughts. It should not be overlooked as trivial or as a pastime. It should instead be understood as a stepping stone to flawless communication, admired diction and most importantly a curious mind.
